چکیده

In an electrical energy storage and delivery system, a parallel connection of battery modules can be used to increase the storage capability and power delivery demands. Parallel connection of batteries requires a robust battery management system as batteries may have different operating parameters such as state-of-charge (SoC), open-circuit voltage (OCV), internal resistance or battery chemistry. This paper focuses on current scheduling for a parallel connection of battery modules by utilizing buck regulators in the battery management system (BMS) of each module to improve the system performance via simultaneous, sequential and hybrid discharge scheduling algorithms. The results indicate the feasibility of the scheduling algorithms and motivate the use of parallel connected battery modules despite changes in battery operating parameters.

Design of power-efficient adiabatic charging circuit in 0.18μm CMOS technology

In energy supply applications for low-power sensors, there are cases where energy should be transmitted from a low-power battery to an output stage load capacitor. This paper presents an adiabatic charging circuit with a parallel switches approach that connects to a low-power battery and charges the load capacitor using a buck converter which operates in continuous conduction mode (CCM). A gate...

A Battery Power Bank with Series-Connected Buck–Boost-Type Battery Power Modules

The operation of a battery power bank with series-connected buck–boost-type battery power modules (BPMs) was investigated in this study. Each BPM consisted of a battery pack with an associated buck–boost converter for individually controlling battery currents. With a proposed discharging scenario, load voltage regulation with charge equalization among batteries was performed by controlling the ...

A Scheduling Model of Battery-powered Embedded System

Fundamental theory on battery-powered cyberphysical systems (CPS) calls for dynamic models that are able to describe and predict the status of processors and batteries at any given time. We believe that the idealized system of single processor powered by single battery (SPSB) can be viewed as a generic case for the modeling effort. This paper introduces a dynamic model for multiple aperiodic ta...

Master-Slave Current-Sharing Control of a Parallel DC-DC Converter System Over an RF Communication Interface

Using analog wireless communication, we demonstrate a master–slave load-sharing control of a parallel dc–dc buck converter system, thereby eliminating the need for physical connection to distribute the control signal among the converter modules. The current reference for the slave modules is provided by the master module using radio-frequency (RF) transmission, thereby ensuring even sharing of ...
